The CEI library is public; its bibliographic material is available for consultation and we are pleased to answer your enquiries by e-mail, telephone or fax. You are also welcome to visit us.

Bearing in mind that our main goal is to satisfy the CEI’s and ministry’s need for information, and that there is not much space in the library room, we encourage readers to make an appointment before visiting us, so that they can be assisted in the best possible way.

Mission Statement

To maintain and implement documentary support services for the research work on international economy carried out at the CEI, for the ministry’s officials and for researchers and students from Argentina and abroad, while preserving, technically processing and disseminating its bibliographic collection and securing its continuous adaptation to users’ needs and interests.

Objectives

• To facilitate access to information resources dealing with international economy issues for CEI researchers, the Ministry’s officials, and for researchers and students from Argentina and abroad, in order to satisfy the information needs posed by their research activities.

• To secure the ongoing development of collections according to the needs and interest of new research approaches and new issues arising from the Ministry’s activities and from the field of international economic relations.

• To create the necessary conditions for a better integration with other information services belonging to specialized institutions working in the same field as the CEI, promoting information exchanges and cooperation with said services.

Collection

The CEI Library develops its collection mainly in the field of international economy, including many related areas such as trade negotiations, trade policy, economic integration and trade promotion, among others.

It boasts a collection of books, documents and periodicals, apart from all reports and working papers published by the CEI since its creation to date, and it is continuously enlarging its bibliographic resources by purchasing, exchanging and receiving donations of materials published by other institutions.


The following services are offered:

Virtual reference service (requests via e-mail, telephone and fax are welcome, and bibliographic references and material available in electronic format are sent via e-mail).

Consultation of bibliographic material in the reading room and the possibility of borrowing material after submitting Identity Card or Passport, in the case of foreigners, to enable the making of photocopies outside the Ministry (certificates of pending documents are not accepted).

Trade statistics can be searched and retrieved.

One-week loan of bibliographic material (only for the Ministry’s officials).

Interlibrary loan (borrowing from other libraries to make the bibliographic material that is not in our collection available for those users who request it); (only for the Ministry’s officials).

Bibliographic searches and preparation of specialized bibliographies (only for the Ministry’s officials).

Availability of statistics compendiums in printed and/or electronic format, published by different international organizations like ECLAC, WTO, IMF; UNCTAD and OECD, as well as INDEC, ALADI, and EUROSTAT.
